for 1871, with nickel-plated 8in. barrel, the top signed 'ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA', nickel-plated stepped cylinder with roll engraved scene, nickel-plated open frame with converted Richards Patent standing breech and loading gate mounted to the right hand side, silver-plated brass grip-straps and trigger-guard (losses to plating), smooth one-piece ivory grip and ejector rod mounted to left side of barrel, retaining much plating except where noted
